Party games for adults
A free party game for adults you can play online with friends
Most party games for adults are either trivia or drinking rules. Spectrum Party is about opinions: one player sees a card like Waste of money ↔ Worth splurging on and a hidden target, gives one clue, and their team has to guess exactly where it lands. Then everyone argues about it.
It runs in the browser. Start a room, send the code to the group chat, and everyone plays on their own phone, at the same table or on a video call.
How a round works
1. Create a room
Pick a nickname and press “Start a game for grown-ups”. The Hot Takes and Pop Culture packs are already picked.
2. Invite your friends
Share the 4-letter code or link. Everyone joins from their own phone and picks a team.
3. Give a clue
The psychic sees a card like Let it go ↔ Worth the argument and a hidden target, then says one clue.
4. Argue and turn the dial
Their team debates and locks in a guess. The other team bets the target is further left or right.
5. Score and swap
Up to 4 points for a close guess, 1 for a correct left/right call. First team to 10 wins.
Clue: “Sauna” — close enough for 4 points.
Why it works for adult game nights
There is no right answer to learn and nothing to memorise, so nobody sits out because they “don’t know trivia”. What wins is knowing how your friends think: whether your partner thinks pineapple pizza is a crime, or how spicy “medium” really is to your coworker.
Rounds take two or three minutes, so it works as a warm-up before dinner, a game for the whole evening, or something to pull out when the conversation needs a push.
Card packs for grown-ups
- Hot Takes: habits, etiquette and social rules that start a friendly argument.
- Pop Culture: movies, music, celebrities and memes, best with friends who share a watchlist.
- Deep Thoughts: abstract spectrums like Style ↔ Substance for groups who want the debate to keep going.
- Food & Drink: everyone has opinions about what they eat, which makes it a safe pick for mixed groups.
House rules adults like
- Make the psychic explain their clue after the reveal. The explanations are often better than the round.
- Play to 5 points for a quick game between other games, or 15 for a full evening.
- Mix couples onto opposite teams. Nobody reads you better, and nobody misreads you more confidently.
- If someone gives a clue that is two ideas joined with “and”, the other team gets the point.
